The Bodacious Cowgirl Creates Bodacious Boards
Take one feisty little Texas country girl who was born a rebel, had artistic talent, loved horses, rodeos, country music, watching Gunsmoke and talked too much in school with a wicked sense of humor and that’s how The Bodacious Cowgirl was born.
On the day I was born, God leaned down and whispered in my mother’s ear. “Mille, buckle up, it’s gonna be a bumpy
ride!”
Since 1978, my passions and careers have spanned from a professional figure skating coach to massage therapist to
home remodeler to fine woodworker. Argentine Tango also is a passion of mine, so some days it’s stilettos and Tango and other days it’s boots and the honky-tonk.
Howdy, I’m Taylor Kay Stephens, The Bodacious Cowgirl. I’m obsessed with wood, and I never met a tool I didn’t like!
Most women buy more clothes and shoes, but me, I buy more tools and wood.
I make beautiful and exceptional hand-made cutting boards, cheese boards, serving trays and coasters. I treat all of them very special. I give them a big hug and talk to them just like a good Southern Mama does with her kids. “Oh Darlin, you’re so pretty, and you know you’re my favorite.”
As an artist who loves working with my hands and is very passionate about my work, I strive for the absolute finest in
craftsmanship. You’re going to get the best quality and something you’ll be proud of and want to pass down to your kids and grandkids.
You’re going to fall in love with them when you see them, feel them and use them. They are like works of art that you’ll want to display and show everyone instead of putting them away in a cabinet.

The Cowboy
Taylor has the ability to capture the essence of her subjects in a unique and emotional way. In this piece, Taylor brings her subject to life by emphasizing the relatable realities of this cowboy's day-to-day life. From the dirt on his hat to the turned collar; and from the scruff of his beard to the chew in his cheek, looking at this piece is like looking into this man's soul. Tools of the Trade
Taylor's commitment to authenticity and invoking emotion in her pieces is evident here. The folds of the saddle pad let us know just how thick and sturdy it is. The use of light on his chaps gives them a worn dusty look. The scarf meeting the scruff on his neck shows us just how dusty and dirty life on the range can be. Yet, this man is standing tall and proud. We can imagine him having just untacked his horse after a day of rustling calves.
